Christine Chi Dang, Human Rights Activist and Lawyer
Christine will be speaking about her life journey as a human rights activist, freedom fighter, public servant, published writer, crisis counsellor, community planner, lawyer and mother.
A refugee from Vietnam, her family escaped by boat to a refugee camp in Malaysia after a death-defying journey over perilous seas. Christine and her family were subsequently sponsored by the Canadian government and arrived in Ottawa for resettlement when she was 14 years old. Christine has a law degree from the University of Ottawa, and has received countless awards for her community work and human rights activism.
