International Women’s Day 2019: Friday, March 8th @ 10:00 a.m.

International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. This year’s theme is #BalanceforBetter as we continue to address Gender Parity. The World Economic Forum’s 2018 Global Gender Gap Report states that the gender gap is widening and that it will take 202 years to achieve gender parity globally. Of the 149 countries assessed, Canada ranks #16 overall, however only 50th as it pertains to Wage Equality for Similar Work.

In celebration of International Women’s Day, CFUW Milton and District is hosting its 3rd annual “March on Main” on Friday, March 8th @ 10:00 a.m. Starting at Milton Town Hall with a Proclamation by Mayor Gordon Krantz, we invite members of our community to march in downtown Milton to raise awareness for Gender Parity.

We recommend people arrive between 9:30 – 9:45.

This year we are excited by increased community participation, including Town Councilors, faculty and students representing Milton high schools, and members from a number of local business and nonprofit organizations.

Come and show your support!
